Today I’m sharing with you another garden decor project for the Summer Outdoor Art Fest with the Yard Art Ladies. Be sure to check out their awesome projects at the end of this post.
My project today is a simple re-do of an existing art board that needed some TLC – a wine label collection collage board.
I’ve had this metal piece for a few years and it originally had wine labels adhered to the white frames. But they had worn away from the weather and water as it hung on the garage wall. It was in desperate need of a makeover. And I knew exactly how to do it.
Stashed away in a file, I had a collection of wine labels which were picked up on a trip to Pelee Island Winery a couple of years ago. I knew eventually I would be able to use the labels for something. And a reminder of a great little vacation was the perfect way to use them.
The most southern point in Canada, Pelee Island is halfway between Ontario and Sandusky, Ohio in the middle of Lake Erie. It’s only accessible by ferry which makes it the perfect place to get away from it all. We spent two wonderful days exploring the island by bicycles including a trip to the winery and the famous lighthouse.
We spent the evenings on the deck of the B&B enjoying the local wine and the beautiful sunsets. This project would be a happy reminder of those halcyon days on Pelee Island.
A fast and easy task to complete as the labels are peel & stick. It was just a matter of choosing my favourites. Of course, if you don’t have wine labels readily available, you can always make your own using Avery wine labels.
The Chardonnay was my number one choice and the fact that the label has the famous lighthouse made it a “must have” for the collage.
A simple piece of garden decor and a happy reminder of a great trip. Nothing could be easier and more inviting.
