Decluttering your kitchen is an obvious way to free up much-needed space. But instead of sending that box of junk to the thrift shop, see what you can transform into garden art. Or, what some of us affectionately call garden junk.
Here's 14 ideas to get your started. You could make the items yourself or purchase them ready-made.

Attach a teapot to a plate, add some hangers, and you've got a sweet bird feeder.
Tips
- I use GE Silicone II clear sealant as an outdoor adhesive. Make sure you get the waterproof, clear-drying type made for gutters and flashing.
- To drill holes in ceramics, use a diamond drill bit and keep the items cool with water while drilling. There are how-to videos online for this process.
This is the oldest trick in the book: use garden junk to fill in blank spots in the garden while you're waiting for the plants to grow.
Here I placed some blue and white dishes and bottles in a planter until the lobelia filled in.

We cannot discuss garden art from the kitchen without including the kitchen sink. Old sinks are fabulous both as planters and inset into potting tables. On a related note, I'm also quite smitten with the sink-inspired planters ( pictured above). How sweet are they?
